New Plant Investment

Masonite I-Joists are manufactured by Masonite Beams AB in Sweden in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001.

Following a major investment of €10 million in new buildings, finger jointing equipment and an I-Joist line, the plant, newly launched in 2008, boasts state-of-the-art technology. Both the I-Joist line and the finger jointer are capable of a line speed of 120 metres per minute. Production capacity for the new factory is more than 24 million metres of I-Joists per year. Such is the efficiency of the operation, that a 5 person shift operates the complete line, including the finger jointer.

In comparison to other I-Joist manufacturers, the Masonite plant offers unequalled flexibility. This means production of asymmetrical I-Joists where the dimensions of the upper and lower flanges differ; and production of I-Joists featuring flanges with a tailored section as opposed to the usual square shape. Both these I-Joist profiles create unique opportunities for design flexibility and efficiency.

What does this investment mean for the UK market?

  • A new I-Joist supplier with a very high manufacturing capacity
  • Very competitive I-Joists
  • Huge flexibility in length and quantity variations
In addition to the new plant investment, Masonite Beams AB has put in place all the necessary support functions required for a successful I-Joist business.
  • The back-up of an experienced team of engineers and designers in both the UK and in Sweden
  • The back-up of an end-to-end software package covering layout, engineering and cut optimisation
  • The back-up of a lean, efficient logistics operation, combined with a very experienced wholesale partner.
