Environmental Credentials
In today’s construction industry, the issues of sustainability and minimisation of environmental impact are increasingly important. Masonite operates a comprehensive environmental policy, which covers both the manufacture of its products and the sourcing of the raw materials used. Indeed, the company aims to exceed demands in legislation and regulations, with 90% of the water used in the manufacturing process being re-cycled.
Manufactured in accordance with the environmental management system ISO 14001, Masonite I-Joists utilise wood fibre certified by the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) with full chain of custody processes. Such is the efficiency of the manufacturing process, that the maximum use of the whole tree is achieved, thereby keeping wastage to a minimum. The high efficiency of the ‘wood to I-Joist’ conversion process means that for a specific volume of Masonite I-Joists, far fewer trees are harvested than those required to produce an equivalent volume of solid sawn timber joists.
Masonite is the first company to be approved by SITAC in Sweden as a manufacturer of non-allergenic building products.
Masonite Beams (UK) Ltd is fully committed to implementing and maintaining the chain of custody system according to PEFC guidelines.
