Masonite Wins Solus Supply Deal with Bellway Homes
Masonite Beams AB has fought off bids from four competitors to win a solus supply deal with Bellway Homes. Whilst Masonite Beams are already used by a number of local builders, this is the first national housebuilder win for the engineered timber products manufacturer since its major relaunch nine months ago. Last year Bellway, the UK's fourth largest housebuilder, sold 6,556 homes. The developer recently won the 'Major Housebuilder of the Year' category at 'Building' magazine's prestigious 2009 Awards.
Commenting on the decision to give Masonite the contract, Bellway Homes' group purchasing manager, Ian Cryer, said:
“We are convinced that we are securing through Masonite a very good product at a very good price, backed up by experienced, independent, specialist dealers.”
The deal confirms Masonite as a serious contender in the housebuilding market, and is an impressive achievement given that only nine months ago the company had no UK based staff and only one distributor. Today a new sales and engineering team is supported by twelve stockists and a lean, efficient logistics operation.
Neil Lewis, who heads up the team for the UK said:
“Winning the Bellway Homes contract is a reflection of the capabilities of our distribution network and a reflection of our commitment to the long-term future of Masonite in the UK.
“Looking ahead, we're also excited about the interest being generated in our building systems in addition to the component products we supply. In particular, the TRADIS® Closed Panel Wall and Roof System and the unique Masonite Flexible Building System are going to provide some valuable solutions for housebuilders.”
TRADIS® is a closed panel wall and roof system which is pre-insulated to provide thermal performance to the highest standard. It is suitable not just for housing, but also for educational buildings, offices and any other buildings for which high thermal performance is required. The TRADIS® system is a great example of one which offers off-site construction benefits and is pointing the way forward for wall and roof building methods.
The Masonite Flexible Building System is an engineered timber based system allowing up to eight storeys with internal spans of up to 10 metres. It is ideally suited to apartments, but is also ideal for offices or any buildings where, in addition to high thermal performance, superior sound reduction and internal space design flexibility are required.
